Sophia Lamoš is a Czech, Austrian-born jazz singer.
In 2010, she moved to Prague, where she soon entered the Czech music scene. One of her first achievements was her solo performance with Prague Film Orchestra in Prague’s Rudolfinum in 2012. Soon after that, she and her sister founded the swing group HOT SISTERS.
This band published the album “Swing je můj king” (Swing is My King), the sisters sang and acted in the film „Lída Baarová“. Now they work with Petr Kroutil’s Original Vintage Orchestra. Her professional career also includes collaborations with foreign stars such as Lorenzo Thompson (Chicago) or Chuck Wansley (Los Angeles).
In 2022 she published her first solo record entitled „My Favourite Things“.
Singer Doris Lamošová, also known as “Roaring Doris” was born in Prague, but she emigrated to Austria with her young parents (father a bassist, mother a model) just before the Velvet revolution. After her graduation, she returned to Prague and studied musical composition and piano. The music of the 1920s is a matter of her heart. Together with her sister Sofia, they form the vocal duo HOT SISTERS, which is an integral part of the Prague swing scene.
Jiří Polydor was born in 1961 in Prague. He graduated from the Grammar School, then the Czech Technical University of Mechanical Engineering. At the same time, he studied piano. During studies at Grammar schools he began performing ragtimes at school events. When at university in the early eighties, he worked as a pianist in the band called Classic Jazz collegium. After graduating, he immediately began to make a living from jazz; in the 1990s, in addition to his own small jazz groups, he also performed in the band Original Prague Syncope Orchestra.
After the year 2000, he founded his to this date performing band Polydor Jazz Sextet, performing from swing to early Be-bop. He is currently a member of several other groups, such as Original Vintage Orchestra, Hot Sisters, etc. He also has a rich discography with the above mentioned musical ensembles and, for example, also four CDs with Jiří Suchý and several other solo artists.
His piano style is characterized by swinging ease similar to the famous Teddy Wilson, with Art Tatum’s brilliant playing technique, but in its concept it is original and does not copy anyone.
For his versatility, he is often engaged in the musical accompaniments of jazz soloists and singers, he is often invited to studio recordings.
Antonín Šturma was born in the late 1970s in Prague, where he still lives. He´s been dedicated to string instruments since the age of six. He started with the violin and through guitar and bass he got to the double bass, which he now plays most often.
He studied classical guitar at the Prague Conservatory and double bass at the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory.
He has been engaged with leading Czech ensembles and is one of the most sought-after musicians.
Jan Štolba was born in 1957 in Prague. During the period 1976-1984 he played as first alto saxophone in the Original Prague Syncope Orchestra formed by Pavel Klikar and Ondřej Havelka. With the latter, he recorded several albums, performed on radio and television, as well as at a variety of jazz festivals locally and abroad. (e.g. Oude Stijl Jazz Festival Breda in The Netherlands). During the peridod he also played with the folk-rock association Mozart K Oldřich Janota or with the art-rock band Krásné nové stroje.
For many years he was a member of Ondrej Ernye´s Jazz Orchestra. They recorded several albums and performed at jazz festivals (Warsaw, Kecskemet, Silkeborg, Uppsala, Askersund, Brecon, Bude, Keswick, Edinburgh, Jazz Jamboree Sacramento, etc.).
In addition to many other associations, he led his own jazz quartet that recorded two CDs (author’s “Keep On Walking”, Arta 2008) and performed at festivals in Berlin or even beyond the Arctic Circle at the Kaamos Jazz Festival in Finland.
For several years he worked with the Vlasta Třešňák band and recorded, and later produced, few CDs.
Currently he is a member of the Polydor Jazz Sextet. They recorded several CDs and performed at the Czech Center in New York, for example. At the same time he is a member of the Jaroslav Šindler Quartet, playing the original author’s repertoire.
He is also active in literature, having published about ten books on essay writing, prose and poetry.
All booked tickets can be rebooked up to 3 days before the performance date or exchanged for a voucher.
